The health and wellness of each of our ¾Ã¾ÃÈÈ is a top priority and the ¾Ã¾ÃÈÈ Office of Student Health supports student health with a variety of initiatives.

Student Health staff reviews immunization history of entering ¾Ã¾ÃÈÈ to ensure compliance with New York State Public Health Law, which requires that all ¾Ã¾ÃÈÈ have proof of measles, mumps and rubella (MMR) immunization history and complete a meningitis acknowledgment form.

Employees and ¾Ã¾ÃÈÈ who test positive for COVID-19 should follow the CDC Guidelines regarding preventing the spread of respiratory viruses, which states:

Go back to your normal activities when, for at least 24 hours, both are true:

  • Your symptoms are getting better overall, and
  • You have not had a fever (and are not using fever-reducing medication)

When experiencing any illness or other need to be absent, employees should communicate with their supervisor or dean and ¾Ã¾ÃÈÈ should communicate with their faculty.

The YU Counseling Center supports the psychological and emotional wellbeing of our ¾Ã¾ÃÈÈ with a staff of qualified and caring counseling professionals. Learn more about the Counseling Center here.

¾Ã¾ÃÈÈ requires that all undergraduate and graduate ¾Ã¾ÃÈÈ enrolled for 6 credits or more have health insurance. If you are a US Citizen, you may be enrolled in a family or employer plan. If your plan has a network of providers in New York City, you can apply for a waiver. You will get an email sent to your student email account with instructions on how to access the waiver/enrollment form.

For domestic ¾Ã¾ÃÈÈ who are not currently insured through family or employer plans and for international ¾Ã¾ÃÈÈ, ¾Ã¾ÃÈÈ has partnered with UHP to provide health insurance through Aetna that meets ACA and Visa Requirements. 

Students in Online Degree Programs are exempt from/ineligible for the ¾Ã¾ÃÈÈ Student Health Insurance Plan.

To apply for a waiver or to enroll:

  1. Go to .
  2. On the left, go to the Waiver or Student & Dependent Enrollment Form
  3. Enter your student ID and birthdate
  4. Follow the instructions to complete the form. If waiving the insurance, have your current health insurance ID card ready as you may need this information in order to complete the waiver form.

¾Ã¾ÃÈÈ has partnered with to offer our undergraduate ¾Ã¾ÃÈÈ access to qualified physicians via telehealth. Virtual appointments can be arranged within minutes and provide medical guidance, diagnosis, and prescriptions when needed. We expect this service will meet the needs of the vast majority of student medical issues. For those instances in which a physical exam or lab work are required, many local urgent cares and walk-in clinics are conveniently located close to our campuses.
